Privacy Policy
Made for Wildlife Incorporated respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information carefully and responsibly.
This policy explains what information we may collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with Made for Wildlife, we may collect information such as your:
- Name and contact details
- Enquiries and correspondence
- Donation and transaction information
- Maker or volunteer information
- Parent or guardian details where a participant is under 18
- Project applications or nominations
- Information you choose to provide through our website, forms, events or other activities
Our website may also collect basic technical information through cookies or similar technologies.
How we use your information
We only use personal information where reasonably necessary to run Made for Wildlife, including to:
- Respond to enquiries
- Process donations and provide receipts
- Coordinate Makers, volunteers and material donations
- Assess and manage wildlife projects
- Organise fundraising activities and events
- Maintain appropriate financial and organisational records
- Send updates where you have chosen to receive them
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Makers and public recognition
We love recognising the people who make Made for Wildlife possible while respecting their privacy.
For 16+ Makers, we will generally display first name only. A Maker may choose to have their social media account tagged or linked alongside their work, but this is completely optional and can be removed on request.
Because Made for Wildlife is intended for a general audience, including children, we will only link to social media accounts we consider appropriate for that audience. We may decline or remove a link where publicly available content is not suitable.
Makers under 16
Young people are welcome to contribute as Makers, but we take extra care with their privacy.
For Makers under 18, we will not publicly display any details but their first name, crafted item and funds raised. We will not share their photograph, social media account or other identifying information.
Where reasonably necessary, we may collect limited information about a young Maker and their parent or guardian to coordinate their involvement and obtain appropriate consent. We will only collect what we reasonably need for that purpose.
Donations and payments
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers used for online donations, market sales or other transactions.
Made for Wildlife does not intentionally collect or store full payment card details. Payment providers handle this information under their own privacy and security practices.
Service providers and overseas processing
We may use trusted third-party providers for services such as website hosting, forms, email, payment processing and other technology needed to operate Made for Wildlife.
Some of these providers may process or store information outside Australia. Where personal information is handled by a third party, we aim to only provide information reasonably necessary for that service.
Emails and updates
If you choose to receive news, fundraising updates or other communications from us, you can unsubscribe at any time.
Keeping information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access or disclosure.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for our activities, record-keeping or legal obligations, after which it may be securely deleted or de-identified.
Access, corrections and privacy choices
You can contact us to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request that incorrect information be updated
- Withdraw optional consent, such as a Maker social media link
- Unsubscribe from communications
- Raise a privacy concern
Where possible, you may also contact us without identifying yourself, although some activities such as donations, Maker participation or project applications may require certain information.
Privacy concerns
If you have a question or complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us through our Contact page.
We will consider privacy concerns promptly and aim to respond within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days.
